loop through, such that you may record on Homeworx and watch another channel on HDTV via TV's tuner. Digital audio out, supports home theater or 5.1 It is mainly for old projection TV which didn't came with HDMI port, but its component out supported 1080i. However, we recommend to set up boxes in a well ventilated area, not inside a cabinet. HW-150PVR has following features that HW-180STB/HW130STB don't: HW180STB and HW130STB are simplified models of HW-150PVR.

Can't even do that with the Philips/Magnavox or Stream+.Ĭlick to expand.Recently I asked homeworx the differences between their units and this was their reply: But at least you can move an entire HDD to a new Pal without losing your recordings.

(That was supposed to be the big new feature of the vaporware ones.) Also, recordings are encrypted and locked to your specific DVR, as with the Stream+ (although at least with the Philips/Magnavox ones, you can dub recordings over to a DVD to get around the encryption.) The DTVPal's recordings aren't encrypted, but it's almost as bad: they use a proprietary file system with no MBR. IIRC the Philips/Magnavox DVRs have no EPG. The Pal always has a built-in HDD, usually 250GB (can be upgraded to 1TB if you have one available though). (A few have one built in, but they'll probably cost even more.) The DTVPal gets its EPG data from the stations like the HW does, but it's still better because some stations provide more than one day's worth of data. (We think it shares the EPG with the Stream+ but can't be sure.) But it's more expensive, and you usually have to supply your own HDD. Main difference from your standpoint is that the DVR+ has a free Internet-supplied EPG. Both have two tuners use the show title as the recording name, have a better UI (although they're different from each other), and a grid-style EPG. Your best bet might be a used DVR+ or DTVPal. But they said the HW-130 firmware was different and couldn't be cross-flashed with the others. IIRC they found th HW-150 v5.x and HW-180 V11.x versions were very similar except for the remote control, and could even be cross-flashed: you could put HW-150 firmware on a HW-180 or vice versa, as long as you had the correct remote. Skitz found a knowledgeable Mediasonic tech person and they discussed firmware versions. I assume this corresponds to V5.1 for the HW-150 and V11.1 for the HW-180 because they all have the same brief description: "Fixes bugs on Fast Forwarding." (When I tested V5.1 and V11.1 I couldn't tell what fast-forward bugs they fixed fast forward seemed to work with V5.0 and V11.0 just as well AFAICS.) Don't know if they have a V1.3 or V1.4.8 for the HW-130 yet ask when you email them. (You have to follow the instructions because Mediasonic has gotten real picky I guess they've had too many bricked boxes returned): There is a V1.1 available for the HW-130 see this post for instructions on requesting it. Mediasonic's forum for the HW-130 and HW-180 is here. (There may be a V11.4.8 corresponding to the HW-150's V5.4.8, but I don't see anything on Mediasonic's forum about it.) Your screen shot shows V1.0 for the HW-130 I believe the HW-180 is up to V11.3. The HW-130 looks very similar to the HW-180 but the firmware is different.
